Well, no museum again today. I just think I need to set out earlier than I have been. Oh well.
I did go out today, however. I went up Chang An about 5 or 6 blocks to snaps so photos of all of the statuary on the roadside. There are A LOT of them, so forgive me for this photo heavy post. But, please enjoy these art pieces:
This city is full of art. I wish St. Augustine was a bit more like this, I wish the city would give up its idea of "historic." I mean, Xi'an is more than 2000 years old, and they don't spend their time going around making people paint their houses a certain color or use only one type of shutter. Maybe just a nice sculpture garden? All by itself? Not encroaching on the "history."

hey now, I represent that remark! I would be unemployed if it weren't for the singular paint colored shutters!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteDo you think the bums here would enjoy the red resin hand chairs?
I'm not saying that we should do away with the history, I'm just saying that it wouldn't be so bad to let a bit of newness in.
ReplyDeleteI just think making Saint Augustine an art city would be phenomenal. We have the location, we have the history, why can't we have a few beautiful sculptures? Or murals? And, it doesn't have to be instead of the historical accuracy, why not in tandem?
And, I think the bums here like the chairs: There was some garbage in one of them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have named the chairs "Sexual Harassment." I'm not sure how to say it in Chinese, but I hope the name catches on.
I love the people with the traditional-patterened bodies! All this art looks so cheerful-- like everyone is just so happy to be allowed to make public art.
